You know what really bites?

...when you're sitting in class at 7, 8 pm, for a class that started at 6:30...

...and you're hungry.

...and you're not getting out until 9:30.

*grumble*

My Original Intent

You might notice, if you look on the top of the page, that this blog is subtitled "Ventures Into the Blogosphere One Voice At a Time".

Didn't notice that? OK, good, because apparently I forgot I put that there too.

What I meant was that I wanted for this to be a venue for podcasts. Seeing as it's been a little under a year and I haven't put a single one out there yet, I figured it's about time I get on that.

So let's start. Now that 2 months of 2011 are already gone, how am I doing on my New Year's Resolutions that I set for myself? Let's take a look...

"1.
Keep in touch with, and get back in touch with, friends I've made this year and some people I haven't talked to in a long time."

OK, so maybe that one hasn't worked out in quite the way that I wanted. I now keep good regular contact with a friend of mine who was on Jeopardy! with me seven years ago, so it's better than no progress, I guess. We're working on that one--there's still maybe 800 people or so that I could go chat up.

"2. Finish learning the Spinach Rag, the Temptation Rag, and Chopin's Waltz in C# Minor." (on the piano.)

I'm 1 for 3 on that one so far, and even then Spinach Rag isn't exactly what you'd call polished. Temptation Rag is just mind-boggling in some places, and I haven't even touched the Chopin waltz all year. But again, this is made even more difficult by the fact that there's no piano within reasonable walking distance from me--and by that I mean in the building I live in.

"3.
Cut down on my computer usage."

And by that I mean "computer usage not related to school work".

Umm...yeah, this one hasn't worked well at all. I default to my computer whenever I'm not doing work. And I'm not even updating the blog then!

"4. Be less bitter/pessimisstic/negative."

Ehh...I guess we're making progress with this one. At least, compared to a couple of weeks ago, it's not that bad. We could use some work with this one, though...I won't go into details.

So there you have it. After two months, if I were to rank my progress on these on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say I'm at about a 2 or a 3 so far. But that's why there's still 10 more months, folks. I'll be up to a 7 or 8 by May, just you watch.

And according to my Jeopardy! desk calendar, it's still February 23. I better change that.
